Welcome to Songxiao September! This is a month-long ship event, running from September 1 – September 30, 2025, dedicated to Song Lan/Xiao Xingchen from Modao Zushi/The Untamed.It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen a Songxiao-focused event, at least in the English-speaking MDZS fandom, and we wanted to change that! Throughout the month of September, we will be celebrating our two beloved daoshi and the complexities of their relationship with each other. There will be suggested themes for each week of the month with a handful of other guiding prompts to get your creative gears turning, but anything Songxiao-focused is fair game!Before participating, please read through this carrd, where you'll find some important guidelines as well as prompts for each week of the event.All types of Songxiao-centric fanworks are welcome! Fic, art, podfic, playlists, video edits, music, cosplay, handicrafts... we want to see it all. If you post your work for this event to AO3, please go ahead and add it to the collection- which you can find under socials!REMEMBER to tag your works with #SongxiaoSeptember2025 so we can find them!
- NSFW content is allowed, so we ask that all participants be 18 or older!- Please keep your works Songxiao-centric! This means:
a) The work should include Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen as some kind of couple, and this should be the main ship of the work. They don’t need to be in a relationship actively (pre- or post-relationship focus is fine!). Both characters don’t even need to show up in the same work, as long as it’s about the two of them with at least a vague whiff of attraction implied.
b) The work shouldn’t be about another ship. Other minor background ships are fine, but within the work, for the Songxiao event… keep it about Songxiao! By that same token, this isn’t the place for works about polyships, even if they include Songxiao. Those are ships of their own for other events!- Works involving common triggers (i.e., incest, underage sexual content, sexual abuse or assault) must be properly tagged for this event. For Tumblr, we will add the appropriate tags to our reblog, but on Twitter and Bluesky, the tags or warning must be in the post themselves in the case of anything other than linked fic. Additionally, on AO3, please use the archive warnings if any apply to your work. Any work not following these guidelines will not be considered part of the event; we believe in creating what you want, but giving people the choice to opt out!- Weekly themes and pools of prompts are provided, but these are just ideas and suggestions! Incorporate as many prompts as you like, or throw it all out the window. A Songxiao work is a Songxiao work.- Character or ship hate in any form is not allowed. If you dislike either of these characters or this ship, simply don’t engage with this event. Don’t use it as a platform to express how much you dislike the ship or either of the characters in it.- Similarly, hate toward other fans is unacceptable. Don't harass other people over their works or their opinions! If you don't like what someone else made, keep those impressions to yourself. (If you're concerned about another fanwork violating the rules of this event, feel free to reach out to the event organizers, but if it's just differences in taste, don't be rude.)TLDR: Be a legal adult, keep the focus on Songxiao (monogamously), dark content is fine but tag it properly, and be nice to each other.
